Honour Roll
Reconstruction Project.

Photographs needed of:
- The Upper Staghorn village,
-Men who served in World War 1 ( refer to the notes accompanying the Honour Roll photograph below right), and
- Cameron's dredge
(Yackandandah Dredging Syndicate 1921-23).
Information is needed about:
Families living in the Pit Lane area 1890-1920 including:
John & Catharine Keenan,
Thomas & Jessie Mildren,
Richard & Elizabeth Mason,
William & Margaret Schafer,
Charles & Caroline Webber,
Alf & Elizabeth Wright, and
George & Mary Wise.

School 1900
The school staff and pupils c. 1900-1901.
The Head Teacher, Hedley Colwell, is in the left hand window. His wife, Mary with baby Bess, and Julia Lindsay, the Sewing Mistress, are in the right hand window. Can you identify any of the children?
World War 1 group
A group of local "boys" leaving to enlist early in World War I. The only individual identified is William ("Bill") Mildren third from the left.

c. 1939-1940.

World War 1 Honour Roll
The Honour Roll commemorating those men who enlisted in
World War I took the unusual form of a large framed photo collection
plus five individual portraits of those who died on active service.
In the early 1990s the main roll was ruined by water damage.
Currently a project is underway to restore, as far as is feasible, the roll.
The table below details the progress made in
reconstituting the Honour Roll as at April 2003.

Drawing on contemporary records the following are possible candidates
for the remaining four unidentified photos: Jack A Ashworth, Ernest Bartel,
RP Brewer, Ted Cahoun (or Cahoon), Roy Elliot, Reg Mason,
William Watkins, RE White, Augustus (Gus) Wise.
Ian would greatly appreciate receiving information on those individual
photos which remain unnamed and loan of replacement photographs.
